Imagine

The Problem

Wheelchairs breakdown, get flat tires, damaged in airplane cargo storage, and even lost. For regular people when this happens to cars of bicycles it is not such a big problem. But imagine you need this device virtually 24 hours a day. WE RECOGNIZED THIS PROBLEM. The solution: Make available backup mobility devices for users to purchase or rent. So we started a nonprofit corporation to do exactly that.

Our History

Launched by users of mobility and other assistive devices, Backup Mobility recognizes that secondary devices are often unaffordable. The products are typically sold assuming coverage by government or insurance where only one item would be purchased until neededing replacement, typically after several years of usage. However, if a device became unuseable or unavailable for whatever reason, the marketplace doesn’t provide affordable backup devices to users at an affordable price. Users typically do not have significant disposable income, and only users with higher income have the reassurance of having back up devices available for purchase or rental. We set out to change that.

Our Vision

Our vision is to become a provider of secondary devices for purchase or rental at affordable prices. We are a nonprofit corporation and our primary goal is to help the community, not to generate profit. We are reaching out to all manufacturers of mobility and related products to establish partnerships in making our vision a reality.
